Who we Are
Jubilee Church Hull is a people united by faith, friendship and fun! We love this city and it’s surrounding towns and villages. We believe God loves it too, and that he is passionate to see a strong and vibrant multicultural church grow in it. For this purpose we gather together to represent him to the people of this city region.
In Luke 4, Jesus pronounces to the people gathered in the temple courts his purpose in coming to earth as a man. In this he quotes from the Prophet of Isaiah the following verses:
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”
We are passionate about continuing the work which Jesus began, to fulfil these promises, which were written in the book of Isaiah 61:1-4. Therefore, we aim to be a church that is:
We are a church where the Holy Spirit is active in our midst. We want to encourage His activity in our meetings and every day lives so that we might be more effective in our Christian lives.
We are a church that seeks to proclaim and live out the good news of Jesus Christ to the many and varied communities and cultures of the city of Hull, the region, and across the world.
We are a church that wants to see everyone experience the freedom Christ can bring, so that we can purposefully use all of the gifts and talents that God has given us.
We are a church passionate about relieving suffering and fighting injustice. Through giving of our time and resources we seek to take an active role in the meeting of people’s needs, the regeneration of our communities, and the planting of other churches.
We are a church that welcomes people from across the world. Our vision is to reach every nation with the gospel, and to welcome those who have made the Hull city region their home.
As more and more nations are represented in this city we want to create a church that is vibrant and reflects our increasing diversity, with the aim of sending people from Hull to every corner of the earth to establish God’s worldwide church. You will find that our worship and church activities attempt to be as inclusive as possible, and we are always willing to try singing in a new language!
Currently we have church members from over 25 nations including DRC, India, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Pakistan, Trinidad, Cameroon and Iran!
If you are new to the city and looking for a church, or would simply like some help settling in and finding your way around, then please contact the church office and we would be only too happy to help welcome you to Hull.
